Health Promotion
This stream focuses on the role of physiotherapy in the promotion of health through public and patient education and awareness strategies. Submissions on injury prevention, effective programs, determinants of health, the roles of physiotherapists in primary health care and quality of life management for all conditions and practice settings are encouraged. Submissions that focus on activity for health, mobility, population health services, exercise prescription, obesity management, improvements in function and chronic disease prevention will be highlighted. This stream encompasses all conditions that affect the cardio-respiratory, neurological and musculoskeletal systems.
Leadership in Action
This stream focuses on physiotherapy leadership development and innovative models of practice within the healthcare environment. Submissions relating to public, private and independent practice management of physiotherapy services are encouraged. Submissions which focus on evolving physiotherapist roles, mentorship, health human resources management strategies, inter-professional collaboration/education strategies, innovative service delivery models, and health system reform are appropriate for this stream.
Neuromusculoskeletal Practice
This stream focuses on the promotion of research, practice and patient/client care in the neuromusculoskeletal area of care. Using the evidence based practice model, this stream will integrate the "best" available evidence, clinical experience and patient/client preference into clinical decision making. Submissions that explore assessment and treatment of disability that arises from both spinal and peripheral pathologies are encouraged. Submissions related to clinical skills and clinical reasoning modules in orthopaedic practice, and advances in research related to neuromusculoskeletal practice are appropriate for this stream.
Merging Research and Practice
This stream focuses on fundamental scientific research, clinical research and the reciprocal transfer of knowledge between clinical practice and research. Active transfer strategies for informing clinical practice through information technologies, learner support systems, and management are encouraged, as well as sessions which describe factors informing the development of clinical research questions. Submissions that address basic science or clinically focused research on targeted physiotherapy interventions, implementation and management strategies, and benchmarking in all areas of practice of practice will be featured. Submissions which focus on research initiatives targeting conditions such as Diabetes, HIV, Arthritis, Cystic Fibrosis, Multiple Sclerosis,
Parkinson Disease, Stroke,
COPD, and post-operative management of acute care patients will be highlighted. This stream encompasses all conditions that affect the cardio-respiratory, neurological and musculoskeletal systems.
